FAQs

When are you open?

We are open seven days a week. Monday to Friday in the evening classes start from 4pm till 8pm. Weekends from 11am – 8pm. We are also open throughout the holiday where we also provide additional booster classes for exam preparation.

How does it work?

We initially assess your child based on the information you provide to us (their current level/grade) then based on our assessment we give you a feedback on what things we can work on. Then we put them in the same ability group and we follow our programme which is in line with the national curriculum. Our group sizes are small as we want to ensure high quality tuition, in one group it is maximum 3 children. Sometimes based on the assessment if we feel that the child initially needs one to one we will do that at no extra cost to boost their confidence before putting them in a group. Ultimately our aim is to ensure that your child makes progress and becomes confident in the subject they are being tuition.

How much do you charge?

We charge from £9 per hour based on age group but our group size is in the ratio of 1 to 3 (so for every 3 children there is 1 teacher), for more information please call our centre on: 0207 247 9515 or check out our website: www.hamiltonstuition.co.uk

Do you have female teachers?

Yes we have male and female teachers. Some of our classes are run by females and have only females in that group however there maybe males in the classroom in another group. Please feel free to visit our centre so you can see the layout and the structure.

Are your teachers qualified?

We have qualified teachers from Maths, Science and English and Primary Qualified specialist. They overlook the curriculum, ensuring that the right objectives are covered for each child and the right assessment is used to monitor progress. They also deliver teacher training to the non-qualified teachers.

What Exam board do you cover?

We cover all exam boards from EDEXCEL, AQA, OCR. From our experience most schools follow EDEXCEL for Maths and AQA for English and for science it could any exam board.

Do you provide feedback to parents?

Yes, we have parents meeting every 3 month to discuss the progress your child is making with the subject teacher. For the younger children as we see parents on a weekly basis there is always opportunity for parents and teachers to exchange feedback whether it’s from the parents or from our teachers.

Do you cater for SEN students?

We don’t have a SEN teacher however call our centre and speak to us. There has been enquiries about children who are autistic, we recommended that the child get one to one support and the parent was happy to do that.

Can students sit exams in your centre?

We are not a registered body however we have links with local schools and other organisations that can out those services on our behalf.

Do you provide other course?

We provide adult course during the day time. Some people would like to sit their GCSE for the first time or want to achieve at least a grade C or more in maths and English. Some parents wants to learn English. We are at the moment trying to secure some funding for these courses so the adults don’t have to pay. Please call 0207 247 9515 or email: info@hamiltonstuition.co.uk our centre for an up to date information.

Do you provide home tuition?

Currently that is not our business model, however we understand that some parents are not able to commute due to various reasons for those parents we only recommend qualified teachers which we vet to ensure they meet our high standards. We have started referring teachers to few parents. We do not take responsibility of the progress that is being made from home tuition as we are overlooking it as a centre. We do not negotiate the price, we provide the parents the price the teachers tell us. Typically a qualified teacher can charge from £25 an hour for GCSE or higher for A level. A undergraduate or graduate could charge from £15 an hour. It does require some thoughts on your child’s needs.

Do your staffs have DBS checks?

There is always at least one person with DBS in the class room; however we run regular training to keep our staff updated on the government rules and regulations on child protection. In the meantime we are in the process of getting all our staff DBS checked.

Are you registered with ofsted?

We have applied for the registration with Ofsted and the application process take up to 6 months so we are pending Ofsted registration.
