11+ AND 13+ EXAM PREPARATION
This is for students wishing to apply to public schools where they are exceeding above average.
Students attend an Assessment Day in the Autumn term prior to the proposed year of entry. Academic ability is assessed by means of an online test of verbal, non-verbal and mathematical reasoning. Students may also have an individual interview with a senior member of staff and take part in group activities with different departments. A report from the students current Head teacher will also be requested at this stage.
The assessment day is an important part of the entry procedure. It is designed to provide the institution an opportunity to assess the student’s academic ability and their general personality and ability to cope with a busy environment.
Following the Assessment Day, conditional offers of places will be made, subject to success in the Entrance Examinations.
11+ candidates take Common Entrance examinations in English, Mathematics and Science.
Our 11 Plus tuition programme is designed to build confidence towards the exams and to help children get to grips with the various question types they will meet.
Although some grammar schools set their own papers, the majority of schools follow either all or part of the syllabus set by the two main providers of 11+ examinations: CEM (Durham University) or GL Assessments.
Hamiltons Tuition can help your child as they work towards any of the 11+ Grammar Examinations.
